About the program
The profile «Economic and Social Geography of Russia» is focused on comprehensive research on the problems of territorial organization of society, the development of cities and regions of different hierarchical levels, conducting comprehensive regional diagnostics, territorial planning, and design. The graduate masters the methodology and modern methods of studying the population, its settlement, and the main sectors of the economy at different territorial levels; capable of solving problems in the field of socio-economic geography (including Russia and neighboring countries), regional analysis, territorial (including urban) planning and design of various types of social-economic activities, and environmental management.
Graduates of the profile are able to solve research, design and production (design and survey) and expert and analytical tasks of professional activity.
Specialized professional competencies of graduates of the profile «Economic and Social Geography of Russia»
He/she is able to collect social-economic information, use for its processing and analysis methods of economic and geographical research at the local, regional and national levels, including in Russia and neighboring countries, and apply them in solving professional problems (SPK-1).
Student is able to participate as an executor in the development of individual sections of territorial and sectoral socio-economic development projects, including territorial and urban planning documents (SPK-2).
He /she is capable of preparing a comprehensive economic and geographical analysis of the regions of Russia and neighboring countries for the purpose of its use in the development of strategic and territorial planning documents (SPK-3).
Student possesses methods of studying the regional environmental situation and the factors of its formation at different territorial levels, skills in complex analysis of anthropogenic (or manmade) impact and identification of regional environmental problems (SPK-4).
He/she is capable of conducting economic and geographical analysis of the territorial organization of the main sectors of the Russian economy (SPK-5).
Student is capable of conducting comprehensive regional diagnostics at different hierarchical levels, developing individual measures and mechanisms of regional policy (SPK-6).
He/she is able to identify the main trends in urban development, apply the theoretical foundations of the development of urbanization processes in practical activities in the field of territorial and urban regulation and planning (SPK-7).
