PEEX conference 2017

3rd PEEX Science Conference & 7th PEEX Meeting is for all scientists interested in research on grand challenges and climate change

  The goal of the 3rd PEEX Science Conference is to bring professional and scientific experts together under  research themes  relate to atmosphere – land ecosystems – aquatic  - anthropogenic activities – Northern societies in the Northern Eurasian region.

The 7th PEEX Meeting is aimed to take the next steps for PEEX implementation. The PEEX vision includes establishing and maintaining long-term, coherent and coordinated research activities, observation networks and educational activites across the PEEX domain.


3rd PEEX Science Conference focuses on grand challenges in the Arctic – boreal region and urban air quality including:

  • Permafrost and consequences of permafrost thawing
  • Structural changes in the ecosystems, Arctic greening
  • Atmospheric composition and chemistry
  • Urban air quality and megacities
  • Planetary boundary layer in the changing climate
  • Weather and atmospheric circulation
  • the Arctic Ocean, the Arctic maritime environments
  • Lakes, wetlands and large river systems in Siberian region
  • Urban air quality
  • Natural hazards 
  • Social transformations and climate change
  • Biogeochemical cycles  

The 7th PEEX Meeting addresses:

  • Coherent, coordinated Pan-Eurasian in-situ observation network incl. satellite observations and coordinated data systems
  • PEEX Modelling platform
  • International collaboration (ESFRI; GEOSS; SAON)
  • PEEX training and education activities
  • Funding opportunities



Wide range of environmental and geographical courses: 16 BA and 15 MA programmes in Geography, Hydrometeorology, Cartography and Geoinformatics, Ecology and Environmental Management, Tourizm.More 

Intensive short courses (1-2 months) in tourism, hydrometeorology etc. The courses are managed by leading scientists. In Russian language.More
